Cape Town, 13 March 2014 - Nomanini today announced that it has appointed Kuda Mushambi as Chief Commercial Officer. Mr Mushambi was formerly Manager of Publisher Partnerships at Google, UK.

The appointment of Mr Mushambi, a leading expert in business development of technology platforms, comes amidst the expansion of Nomanini, both within Africa and in other emerging markets further abroad, building on the success of their entry into Kenya.

“I am ecstatic to join the Nomanini team at a critical time in the organisation, where the need for payment solutions in the informal market is incredibly large and practically untapped. The applicability of Nomanini’s technology across different industry verticals, in virtually every geography worldwide and towards an immense number of people make this a transformational company that I’m proud to join,” said Mr. Mushambi.

Mostly recently, Mr. Mushambi was Manager of UK Publisher Partnerships at Google in London where he was responsible for the sale and delivery of Google’s advertising platforms to enterprise online publishers in the UK and Nordics. During his tenure at Google, he oversaw the sale, implementation and rollout of technology platforms which formed the basis of revenue-positive lines of business for Google partners. Nomanini’s goal is to build similar partnerships in the informal market, enabling people to build their businesses on Nomanini’s payments platform.

Prior to Google, Mr. Mushambi was Senior Manager (Technical) of Mobile Accounts at Microsoft Corporation in Seattle, USA. While at Microsoft, he worked with mobile partners on the West Coast of the US, driving revenue growth by enabling mobile partners to build devices and manufacturers to build mobile devices to market with global mobile operators.

“Kuda is a great fit for Nomanini. His global business development experience, underpinned with his solid technical background are just what Nomanini needs in this exciting time in our journey. As important as his capability, is that he suits our team culture well and shares our values. I am looking forward to working with him,” said Vahid Monadjem, Nomanini CEO.

Combined with this deep technical knowledge is his ability to formulate and deliver upon solid business strategies, stemming from his background in business and an MBA from the London School of Business. Mr. Mushambi received his BS in Engineering and Applied Science from California Institute of Technology and his MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington.

Brian Hirman, investment director at eVA Fund and member of Nomanini's Board of Advisors says, “When we invested in Nomanini back in 2012 we invested in a technology company with world class software engineers. The next step was to integrate more commercial DNA into the company, in order to grow the adoption of Nomanini’s high-end technology across Africa. We feel confident that Kuda can achieve this and are very happy to have him join Nomanini's winning team."

About Nomanini

As the pioneering fintech platform for the informal retail ecosystem, Nomanini connects merchants and distributors to each other and global service providers, integrating payments, working capital, and data analytics to unlock the latent potential of Africa’s economy.

Nomanini turns any mobile device into a retail point-of-sale solution for informal merchants that is connected to an interoperable merchant wallet. The interoperable merchant wallet allows merchants to offer a broad range of digital banking (including cash-in/cash-out), mobile, utility and entertainment services to their customers boosting competitiveness. In turn, digital service providers rapidly increase the scale and reach of their offerings. By generating real-time insights based on transaction data, distributors using the platform gain a single view of their merchant network, ensuring inventory is where it is needed most to improve sales. Distributors can also begin to accept payments for goods electronically, eliminating the risk and inefficiency of collecting cash. With data analytics, Nomanini helps extend working capital loans to merchants via distributors allowing them to invest in inventory to grow their businesses. The increased volume of goods and services set against reduced operational friction increases the profits for all platform participants.

Nomanini was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in South Africa.
